MIND, BRAIN & HEART
Working on the inside of your leadership includes working on your:
Mind – thoughts & mindfulness
Brain – selecting words which save or serve you
Heart – emotions & feelings
Mind
In your mind, you’re controlling your many thoughts, deciphering details, facts from fiction and deciding on your priorities and daily actions.
Without this focus, your tongue would be left to its own devices.
Before you react to anything which occurs, take a moment to consider in your mind, how you should respond.
Brain
Your brain is divided into several areas. Your prehistoric brain protects you and is continually scanning for trouble.
Your prefrontal cortex is your modern executive brain seeking opportunities to trust and co-create with others.
These two brain functions are both vital: to protect you or to support you.
Heart
Your heart leads you.
You are an emotional being.
You have a social need to connect which means your emotions influence how your words and other people’s words land: i.e., with you and others.
You know when a word of joy enters your heart, and you know when a word of judgment pierces your heart.
The emotional connection you have to the words you use, and the words used by others is often the reason you choose the words you use.
Which of these three, mind, brain, or heart do your favor most?
Tomorrow I’ll cover off on your body, soul & gut.
You can read more about YOUR INSIDE WORDS in my new book Talk Like A Leader.
