IMPACT
A powerful word – strong, memorable and emotional.
It’s use has been regular in Australia given our devastating Australian events.
Bush-fires, droughts, hailstones, to name a few.
Their ripple effect has caused a global Tsunami.
Everything you do and say will make or cause an impact.
Your inaction causes an impact.
Your positive intentional action makes an impact.
You can make any size of impact.
It depends on how conscious and dedicated you are about your leadership and relationships.
This is why Leadership must be Intentional.
Be present, ask questions, give feedback, communicate frequently and demonstrate empathy.
Being intentionally rude, domineering, aggressive and uncaring will cause a Tsunami.
We will never know the real impact we have on peoples’ lives – positively and negatively:
- Not speaking up when we see inappropriate behaviour
- Not voicing and clarifying the stories in our own head
- Helping out without being asked
- Listening to someone’s concern without interrupting
With every intent you have, there is a need to influence, intelligence accessed, consistent behaviour to inspire - if you are to make an impact in your leadership.
