WHY?
It’s that internal question that helps you understand more about other people and yourself.
❓Why did they respond that way when I interrupted them in the meeting?
❓Why haven’t they offered some innovative ideas that I requested in my email?
❓Why am I holding back in having that conversation?
Learning the reasons (the why) occurs by carefully articulated questions.
The response enables you to alter your approach in your next interaction.
For every STRENGTH you choose to deploy, it’s wrapped in REASONGING and anchored to your motives – why you do, what you do.
Read that again!
The STRENGTH TRUSTING rarely appears at the #1 position of a person’s STRENGTH portrait (there are 28 STRENGTHS).
TRUSTING is defined as, placing your faith in others.
Covid19 has challenged our TRUST especially with a new population of workers at home.
TRUSTING ranks in the middle of my STRENGTHS portrait.
I continue to work on it.
I diligently refrain from doing, other peoples’ work.
And, I’m wary of appearing GULLIBLE and have learnt to TRUST-BUT-VERIFY!!
How TRUSTING are you?
How does this show up in your leadership?
We choose to TRUST for several REASONS, including:
· To show that you support their plans
· To show that you believe in others
· To give others the freedom to make decisions
· To inspire and encourage them
· To show how much you value their abilities
· To show confidence in them
· To affirm your mutual respect and understanding
· To create an open environment
However, the best way to discover WHY (their reason), is to have frequent conversations with your team, colleagues, and your boss. This will become the strength of your leadership.
Or, you can access this ‘WHY’ data by completing the Relationship Intelligence assessment. If you’re interested, leave me a comment, or send me a direct message. Your first assessment is complimentary.
