ACTIVITIES TO BOOST CONFIDENCE
Whilst working with a group of talented leaders we identified three daily activities that kept them feeling confident and less vulnerable in their role during 2022.
Being responsible for influencing change in their respective businesses and ensuring their teams of employees acted on these decisions meant their relationships were vital to achieve results.
These simple yet impactful activities made the difference during the year:
Accountability
We often forget that adults (of all ages and stages of life) are recruited because of their skills, strengths and character. Micromanaging and a lack of trust mitigates the respect associated with accountability resulting in these adults considering their career options.
Activity – regular short check-in sessions to listen, learn, provide feedback guidance and praise
Acknowledgement
Social beings are what we are and that means, being social. Isolation impacts people’s energy and using opportunities to engage adds immense value to people’s ability to perform.
Activity – personalise conversations using people’s names and asking curious questions to understand where they were at
Action
‘All talk and no action’ was the idiom that encapsulated the groups key frustration during the year. Staff who talked up their work and didn’t deliver consumed an inordinate percentage of their time. Likewise, leaders who don’t deliver are staff’s main reason for parting ways!
Activity – ensure timelines, feedback, challenges, and concerns are a component of their regular conversations
