FIVE EASY LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOURS
This week’s five easy LEADERSHIP behaviours are a result of playing GOLF.
Yes, a conversation about GOLF uncovered the solutions a team LEADER was seeking to improve their performance.
TOP FIVE BEHAVIOURS:
🏌️♀️Practise the Practice – good golf occurs through regular and repetitive practise. Expecting a change in result ‘overnight’ won’t work. Writing scripts, role-playing and implementation is the best course of action.
🏌️♀️Fairway Feedback – being open to receiving feedback enables other players to identify your bad habits. Likewise, in the workplace, don’t walk past behaviour, good and bad, without providing feedback. Acknowledge results immediately.
🏌️♀️Be the Caddie – Caddies understand the course and they will suggest the most appropriate club and remind you of the environment ahead. As a leader, work with your team and recommend approaches along the way. Help them avoid traps you’ve encountered.
🏌️♀️Aim for a Birdie – a golfer’s goal is to beat what’s expected (the fairway par); it’s about correcting yourself and aiming to improve on your last performance. Leading yourself and leading others is about being more effective at your work and producing and refining results.
🏌️♀️Hole in One – and yes, a golfer’s dream is to achieve a hole in one – to experience the feeling of achievement. Identifying the feelings you and your team expect to experience in the workplace enables you to focus on the culture that creates these feelings.
I’m passionate about leadership and golf. I combine these two when I work with clients. If you’d like a unique approach to working on making your leadership easy, let’s play golf and work together.
