How sharp is your Vision?

Approaching a new decade escalates our curiosity of considering ‘what’s next’; it’s a feeling of excitement as we want to see into the future, to explore opportunities.

Without vision, decisions become dilemmas, planning seems unnecessary and change is begrudged.

Visioning is about attracting others to join you to see what is possible.

People will follow you if you practise leadership - painting an image of the road ahead which is clearly signposted to encourage the heart and curious mind to follow.

Getting onto peoples VIBE radars begins with their knowledge of what you value, the consistency of your virtues in practice and where exactly you’re headed – your vision.

As Brené Brown shares in Dare To Lead, to be clear is kind, unclear is unkind. And as Bill George says in Discover your True North, discover the purpose of your leadership to inspire and empower others to excellence and to stay on track.

With only a few days remaining in 2019, use each one to ponder your vision for: yourself, your career, your team, your business, your family, your friends and then consider – ‘what’s next?’

Ask others about their vision, it’s a VIBE building conversation.

Exercises – choose one:

·       Write about the impact a vision has had on your life.

·       Write about how ‘not having’ a vision impacts your leadership.

·       Write about a vision you have for your life in 2020.

·       Consider which value enables a picture of your future to appear.

·       Draw a road map of where you’re heading in 2020 and consider how your values & virtues will help you find the effective route.
