NO, we’re not in agreement
NO, that’s not what we requested
NO, I’m unable to help you
NO is on the list of The Language Of Leadership.
What do you think – should NO be on the list?
Here’s the thinking behind NO and other N words used in LEADERSHIP:
NO – saying “NO” sets boundaries. It’s a practice of your confidence & it boosts your resilience to take the pressure valve out; it takes courage to take care of yourself and your team by saying “NO”.
NETWORK – tap into the talent within your NETWORK to broaden your perspective & avail of their experience & expertise.
NETWORKING - pay it forward; connect & refer people. Listen for opportunities to help people by introducing them to people who have the solution to their problem.
NAME – using a person’s name triggers in their brain, the trust building chemicals (Oxytocin, serotonin & dopamine). With all our screen time, there’s no excuse given NAMES are on our screens. When you’re face to face, commit to listening and using NAMES.
NEEDS – being clear about your own NEEDS, the NEEDS of your team members, colleagues & your boss, enables you to deliver, to adapt & build value in your relationships.
N is a tough letter … help me out if you can add to the short list.
