What do you want to achieve into your second week as the new team leader?
I recommend three activities to achieve:
Schedule and complete 1:1 meetings with all your team members - what are they working on to achieve the current team’s strategy?
Strategy time - create your plan to achieve your strategy. What unique authentic approach do you bring to the role? (Remember, you got this role being who you are.)
Schedule a Strategy Review meeting with your team leader/manager/CEO to confirm that this plan will achieve the overall organisational strategy.
Record information about your people - Vital for Relationship Building
In preparing for your 1:1 sessions, determine how you record your information. Will you write notes, will you seek permission for an audio recording or is your memory 100% full proof. These initial conversations are vital to fast-track your relationships.
BUILDING TRUST
People will join you and what you stand for if they trust you. The question is - will these new people in your life trust you?
They will trust you if you make time to get to know them and take an interest in what they do and their performance in what they do.
