WHAT DO YOU WRITE FIRST?
How do you feel when you open a new notebook, journal, or diary?
Do you get excited?
I might be unique as I find the whole experience euphoric.
My dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin get a workout as I want to write, highlight, doodle and create colour on every page!
NOTE - there is no mention of using your device. This will be a challenge for many - but stay with me.
Turn your device off and turn your attention to, what you write first.
When I canvass people about what they write first, these are the common first entries:
🖋️Goals
🖋️Dreams
🖋️Birthdays & anniversaries
🖋️New habits e.g. fitness, diet
🖋️Long weekends & Holidays
This delights and inspires me … hearing diaries filled with words of aspiration, celebration, and fun.
Writing is the focus here – and it starts with the first words. Connecting your brain to your hand and anticipation (dates of activities and events in the future) that increase your chance of making it happen.
If you don’t write it down, it significantly reduces the likelihood of its occurrence. Of course, significant dates will occur e.g. your partner’s birthday, yet the impetus to take action in the lead up to the date, increases.
What you write first will encourage you to keep writing.
In the lead up to 2022, invest in a journal, diary or notebook, excite your brain and let your writing commence.
