101 DAYS OF HAPPINESS
The Science of Happiness has delivered more than a smile on my face.
Who would have thought that there were so many dimensions to consider, explore, practise and question to understand happiness.
From compassion, forgiveness, flow and play, each day introduced research, case studies and deep thought to understand happiness.
My selection of this massive online course (MOOC) was intentionally a non-work-based subject, however every aspect of these 101 days has connected my passion of working with leaders and their effectiveness.
Throughout the program we were offered ten happiness practices to build into our days and whilst I thought I was happy, I uncovered three activities that surprised me with their impact on my happiness.
· Forgiving – identifying people who you’ve not forgiven and explored that lessening the load of grudge and negative emotions created more space and time for happiness.
· Self-compassionate letters - provide relief, soul soothing and change to the way you offer compassion to others.
· The AWE walk - deepen your appreciation for what surrounds you rather than anticipating what you don’t have or haven’t experienced.
So, happiness is more than emojis, even though I reported and rated my feelings with emojis every week; I’ve filled my head with every possible piece of research to uncover and understand the science behind happiness.
There are many books and articles referenced throughout the program and if you wish to understand how to help increase your well-being and to lead a team of happy humans, I highly recommend this course offered by edX.
