DEVOTED - The STRENGTH that can lead to being SUBSERVIENT

DEVOTED

I’m curious about being DEVOTED.

It’s a STRENGTH that I rarely borrow and I am struggling to think of a situation that I called on this STRENGTH to help in a relationship.

In the past two years, DEVOTED hasn’t appeared in the top six STRENGTHS of clients – these ‘top six’ are our for all-purposes, go-to, feel important STRENGTHS.

To be clear, being DEVOTED is defined as – dedicated to some people, activities, or purposes.

In one small group, most members had DEVOTED in their bottom six STRENGTHS. This occurrence fascinated me given their common role.

Maybe you value DEVOTED.

Here are several reasons why you might use the STRENGTH - DEVOTED:

·       To further a cause that benefits people

·       To solidify my personal commitment to them

·       To show commitment and passion

·       To create meaningful change

·       To maintain focus on priorities

·       To keep striving for order and clarity

·       To create enthusiasm for a cause

·       To lead people to what is best for them

·       To concentrate on actions that produce results

·       To include people who have similar goals

·       To maintain others’ trust in me

·       To keep things fair and beneficial to everyone

·       To keep outcomes in mind while testing options

·       To keep people united toward a common goal

Is there one specific reason listed here that motivates you to be DEVOTED? Please let us know.

I often wonder if Í avoid being DEVOTED as I don’t want to appear SUBSERVIENT – being so DEVOTED that I have to do what others want without questioning them or resisting their requests!

Would you want your team to be DEVOTED to the purpose of your mission?

Behaviour is all about choice which enables you to influence and inspire specific STRENGTHS.

Helping your team strengthen their use of each strength leads to their indestructibility which is as important as strengthening your leadership.
