Uncovering the real issue is what’s important.
Listening to the recount of the day’s events can be tiring however it presents the problem on a platter.
Rework is a symptom of the problem.
🔦Stop doing their work.
🔦Enable them to feel the accomplishment of completion and the pain of failure.
🔦Do your own work.
Too many managers uncover in their conversations with me that their busyness is due to their lack of systems.
Rework is not a reward or a badge of honour.
You’re rewarding the wrong behaviours if you do their work for them.
The solution includes:
✅A conversation of expectations – don’t tell me the problem, ask me for advice
✅The clarity in all communication – divide work into your work and their work
✅Delegate, don’t abdicate – meet regularity for progress reports and solve problems together
Don’t follow the litterbug and pick up their litter.
Lead with what’s expected to set clear standards of your expectations.
