Saturday’s STRENGTH is SOCIABLE.
Yes, it’s a no brainer, however, let’s delve into this crucial STRENGTH.
During our pandemic, locked to our computers it was challenging not to be SOCIABLE.
Those coffee meetings, lunches, quizzes around the kitchen, and the odd celebration after work.
Whilst we optimistically venture back to the office world, yearning to see our colleagues in the flesh, there is a group of folks who warily follow you. They’re comfortable in their safe haven not having to mingle in the small talk.
Being SOCIABLE is about engaging easily in group conversations and activities.
Your STRENGTH of SOCIABLE could be a reason that others avoid being SOCIABLE. Your earnest attempt in involve and engage could actually be disrupting, distracting by being so intrusive.
Like any STRENGTH – it’s about getting the intensity, frequency, duration and in particular, the context right.
SOCIABLE is in my top six STRENGTHS and while I easily approach a group of people at a networking event, I’m mindful that others would rather go to the dentist for a filling. (Apologies to all the Dentists in my network!)
As a team leader, being SOCIABLE eases the climate (the feelings, mojo and vibe) – being friendly in your approach makes work more fun and appreciated by most everyone.
Being SOCIABLE is also about encouraging conversations and creating networks. Knowing a wider number of people enables you to help your team – you’re able to broaden their network for future support and career opportunities.
As an extravert, the SOCIABLE STRENGTH is the solar panel to attract energy!
But beware, not everyone wants to socialise at work.
However, you can help your team members borrow the SOCIABLE STRENGTH by finding their own reason to benefit by being SOCIABLE. Maybe it’s:
To learn about people who they need to work with
To find new opportunities
To learn about what people think of things that they will be working on
To find out what others are capable of doing that might be of help to them
To build stronger relations in case things get tough during a project
To bring the best out in others to enable them to work confidently
To understand where people are coming from to makes sense of a problem
Enjoy your SOCIABLE Saturday.
