YOU’RE NOT ALONE
It’s comforting when you uncover, you’re not alone.
In particular, when you hear that your unique dire situation is …. common!
It’s so common it’s been experienced multiple times and it would appear a solution or option is readily available.
“When I found myself in that predicament, I ……..” immediately opens the mind and ears to hear and receive support.
Believing you’re the only one is anxiety overloading.
So, how do you help your people feel they’re not alone?
In a recent session hosted by the Mentoring Advantage Program team, a group of mentors nodded enthusiastically whilst listening to each other recount similar advice they’d provided mentees from various organisations.
Many of the stories and challenges they’d heard their mentees recount was camouflaged as Perfectionism. Too much needing to be 100% right and too little progress or delegation occurring.
Mentors are mentors because they’ve experienced the same or similar problems that your staff are experiencing; they’re prepared to offer options, advice and answers. They’re in the business of addressing matters quickly rather than letting them linger, creating additional work for you and others.
What similar experience have you uncovered in your mentoring relationship?
Mentors are an asset to your organisation. They contribute to your attraction and retention strategy.
