I don't have all the skills or the experience!

“But I don’t have all the skills or the experience!”

Your self-belief will ‘talk you up’ or ‘talk you out’ of career opportunities.

It can cripple your confidence and crush your courageousness.

Statements of this ilk, a belittling self-criticism won’t get you that desired job.

Women need to back themselves, talk themselves up, and convince themselves first that they are skilled & experienced.

When there is doubt, I believe you can learn and borrow from your testosterone-fuelled counterparts as they are more likely to be:

🔷Proud of what they’ve achieved, and happy to tell you.

🔷Egocentric. sharing exactly how they’ve contributed … not fellow team members

🔷Focused on the goal of the role opposed to being distracted by the gaps in the role requirements.

When women talk themselves out of what they need and want, men reassure themselves that they should have it.

This is the moment that you need to seek out support to help you uncover those skills and strengths which you do have and recall the experiences that people will want to hear about.

How might you flip the above statement into a positively attractive response?
