‘There’s a lack of leadership’ is overplayed and understated in the media.
I heard it twice in media grabs this morning.
It does not help.
It hinders and agitates, and we get stuck in feeling annoyed.
We never find out what is meant by this statement.
What is the ‘lacking’?
Let’s get better at being clear.
Let’s be clear about what we expect.
Let’s be specific with the behaviours that are necessary.
Take the opportunity to raise this subject with your colleagues, crew and your CEO.
Here’s a group activity that helps define expectations:
ABSENCE VS ABUNDANCE
Group One - Discuss what is absent – what behaviours are in play, what’s occurring around you and how are people feeling.
Group Two - Discuss what’s occurring and observable behaviour when an abundance of leadership is experienced.
Share findings across both groups and determine key insights.
Establish agreed behaviours and boundaries to expect of each other.
