ADAPTABILITY
Is being ADAPTABLE a key STRENGTH of yours?
Do you readily move to new and modified conditions?
ADAPTABILITY is the first STRENGTH to explore this month.
During the Australian Open the Special Ks, Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis showed us how to apply ADAPTIBILITY to their relationships
If you predominantly played singles tennis and were asked by a colleague to change to play doubles, would you avoid it, rise to the challenge or accept the offer to appease the relationship?
This example aims to highlight that some of you would rate ADAPTABLE as a productive and effective behaviour and others would judge it as unnecessarily compliant.
Knowing the reason for being in your team and what’s important to them makes your leadership role easier.
Being aware of what they’re concerned about sets your conversation up to engage and empathize.
For example, if you’re asking your team to demonstrate ADAPTABILITY during a change process, you will benefit if you communicate differently with these three groups:
Group A – how it will affect others.
Group B – the new opportunity to be agile.
Group C – the amount of new information to gain.
How do you appreciate receiving change information?
Leadership gets easier when your communication ADAPTIBILTIY strengthens!
