There’s a little park in our street.
Each day it comes to life as families enjoy a PICNIC.
There are bursts of laughter, blankets, and baskets of goodies.
It’s a novelty for many as they’ve extracted themselves from being locked indoors.
THE PICNIC PHASE is that time to reacquaint yourself with the norms of the team, idiosyncrasies of each other, and the preferred practice that creates the work momentum.
PICNICS are light.
You’ve got to be able to carry what you intend to use.
There’s no need for anything too fancy as it’s about re-establishing relationships.
If you’re preparing for ‘the return to work’ give some thought to how you’ll use THE PICNIC PHASE.

As a sofa spectator, I’ve experienced two phenomenal lessons being thrust out of the screen with a high jump pole.
There is no Tall Poppy Syndrome lurking in any stadium or media commentary.
There is absolute respect from every competitor, team, and country.
This is a refreshing relief as it can become tiring and debilitating to hear people criticize others.
Judgment is replaced by joy. Long may it linger.
And there are limited signals of Impostor Syndrome from any of the athletes.
They have shown us pride in who they are and how their regime has earned their right to be where they are – at the Olympics.
Their display of self-leadership, confidence, and strength … strengthens our nation.
