HANG YOUR LEADERSHIP
‘Being consistent’ at holding onto leadership, is the challenge for organisations and their people. It’s busy, it’s changing and people are often distracted.
“Being consistent” is the consistent response I hear people say about what they desire to see in their leaders.
This reinforces the need for a leadership framework to be relevant, practical, user friendly and importantly it needs to add value to how a person lives their life.
We need to hang our leadership to enable accountability and help others follow.
A client project has resulted in the design of a simple and memorable leadership framework which holds how they want to experience leadership:
Values + Virtues + Vision + Voice
When these four factors are operational, it produces a vibe; an atmosphere which is appealing to this group of people and clients.
Hanging from these words are more words:
Values – clarity about what’s most important to the person and the people
Virtues – choosing high moral standing behaviours to guide people
Voice - cultivating communication skills which builds effective relationships
Vision – creating a shared image of a desired future state to achieve
If these factors aren’t hanging well leadership isn’t effective. For example, without the bigger picture (vision) people question their involvement in the direction, without standards of behaviour (virtues) success and failure are immeasurable and without stories and feedback (voice) people don’t learn.
The company logo can be hanging perfectly on the wall, yet it’s the peoples’ actions that hangs the leadership.
Working with clients to hang their leadership is what I’m passionate about achieving.
I would love to hear about your leadership framework and how well it’s hung.
