THE LANGUAGE OF LEADERSHIP - THE VOWELS - O
Oh what joy – we’re almost at the end of the challenge. Daily blogging may seem like a simple task however I’ve really spent quite some time thinking about what to write. Yet, it’s well worth the time and effort to increase the attention to this important exercise – our leadership language.
Thanks to the contributions of so many people, whom I know and don’t know. When you are more considerate with the words you choose, taking a moment to think of the impact you have, you’re in a position of influence.
‘O’ is a vowel and a letter we have already explored. It gained attention with the offer of a few words from others, including: outcome-driven, organised, open (to feedback), order, opportunity and optimization.
What about you – do you have another ‘o’ word to offer?
I’d like to offer a new word to the conversation: obligation.
I believe leaders have an obligation to ensure that their people, whom they are responsible to, whom they pay to act on their behalf to do their work with their clients, are totally aware of their accountability, the rules, their role requirements – everything needed and expected to perform their role.
Yep, I like hearing obligation used in the context of leadership responsibilities.
Tomorrow is the final letter in our group of vowels. We will revisit U.
