LEADERS ENCOURAGE CELEBRATIONS

.... Leaders encourage the continuous arrangement of celebrations ....

Gosh, it’s tough focusing on business when it’s the school holidays. The kids are queuing to use the computers, and it’s never the right time to make that important phone call! And to top it off, it’s my daughter Jennifer’s 6th birthday today.

So, a short sharp Blog with my simple message: Celebrate!

Yep, simply celebrate all the special things that happen in life – from being well, being happy, achieving a small milestone, creating success and for us, creating a life.

Today we’re off to one of those ‘Play Centres’ – definitely not my choice but easy to arrange, and  the 12 kids will have a fabulous time celebrating with all things salty, sweet and to top it off those slippery slides!

BIG LEADERSHIP TIP – encourage the continuous arrangement of celebrations – people are more productive and engaged when they are happy, feel wanted and most importantly – made to feel important.

WHAT'S IMPORTANT FOR ME AT EASTER?

What’s important for me at Easter?

Many folk rush out the door today; they escape for the long weekend, off to catch up with friends and family for a meal or maybe they have some other annual ritual.

Ponder for a moment and consider the answer to this question: What’s important for me at Easter?

There are so many customs, rituals, celebrations and annual events at Easter: too many to list. Many of us observe the days due to our religious up-bringing and for others it’s a thankful public holiday treat.

Either way, what is common for most folk is the time shared together with special people. And, it’s when we’re in the same space, we can reflect on what’s important. You know the chatter … “remember when ….” or, “why don’t we ….“ and the big one “I wish ….”.

We’re lucky enough to also celebrate this weekend, ‘Neighbour Day’. We have 60+ joining us – we’re having a BBQ, Egg Hunt and a general beer, wine and catch-up in our street park. The kids have a great time playing together and we adults get to understand what’s important to those living around us.

Enjoy the Easter break and make a few people feel special by checking in on them to hear what’s important.

TOP RIGHT QUADRANT

Top Right Quadrant

In our pursuit for excellence, we are always aiming to ‘land’ or to be placed in the ‘top right quadrant’ of any model. (Imagine a four grid quadrant – high-high on both axis descriptors.)

This month, we've been focusing on MARCH, 'Master Reoccurring Challenges' and it’s time to move to the top right quadrant of our FEAR model.

In summary: identify the fear or fault, review and edit our mind talk activity, establish skill training to combat and bolster the physical ability and finally measure for results.

The top right quadrant is about being consistent – being predictable. That’s what followers are attracted to in a leader. It may be hard work, continually practising to form a new habit, but for us observers we want to trust, respect and admire someone who won’t disappoint us.

Mastery is beyond the quadrant – once you've tackled the quadrant activity & ability, attaining regular consistent results, you can springboard from that point, feeling satisfied that the original challenge is now a quest fulfilled.
