I’m catching up with an acquaintance today for a nice long coffee chat. I bumped into him a couple of weeks ago at a conference. We had known each other many years ago; I’d always admired how he behaved, how he spoke and managed the crowd. He was a leader of his field. So, it was interesting during our brief encounter he asked about other people who had been in our life many years ago.
The mere mention of peoples’ names aroused fabulous memories of the times shared with these ‘forgotten’ people. Well, they’re not forgotten, it’s just that we get so busy, we meet new people and there must be a limit on the number of people we can have active in our lives.
Connecting with the past is my pet project at the moment. I’m not very good at it but I am curious to know what people are doing in their lives and I believe that our role as a leader (or as a good human being) is to bring the best out in others. If you’re in the company of someone that makes you feel happy and important must be a good thing.
